Plains Indian bead work is a highly evolved art form, with the greatest connoisseurs being Indian people themselves. Although traditional bead work artists did not create with a brush and palette, their creations truly are a fine art.

Almost all Plains tribes used beads that they made from animal bones, teeth, or shells. Glass beads, however, which often came from Venice, Italy, began to reach the Plains in the early 1800's. Brought by traders who rode ponies, these so-called pony beads were fairly big, upwards of one-eighth inch in size. Limited to only a few colors (primarily white, blue, black, and red), pony beads tended to inspire large, bulky designs. Seed beads—much smaller and available in a broader palette—appeared in the late 1840's and soon became easily obtainable.

Because smaller beads allowed patterns to become more detailed and refined, different bead work styles began to take shape. Three tribes—the Blackfeet, Lakota, and Crow—developed distinctive stitching techniques, colors, and patterns. Neighboring groups were usually influenced by at least one of these styles. Traditional bead work reached a peak around 1890, but many contemporary Indian artists continue to work in the medium, keeping the art form very much alive. ✨✨✨✨✨
This little cowboy shirt is adorable! The fabric is soft and comfortable for my toddler, and it held up well after a couple of washes without shrinking or fading. The snaps make it super easy to get on and off, which is a lifesaver with a wiggly kid. The stitching and details give it a genuine western look, and my child loved wearing it. No complaints here—it’s a fun, well-made piece that looks even cuter in person.

Great Quality Shirt and Nice Color
Size: 14, Color: Khaki, Size: 14, Color: Khaki
This cowboy shirt is excellent, but make sure to size up if your child is bigger. My son is 9 years old, and I had to order the 14-year size for a good fit. The fabric is very good quality, and I really loved the color. It looks great and feels warm
