An absolutely magnificent and incredibly rare, documented Nina Ricci haute couture black velvet and ivory satin gown back to her stunning 1952 fall-winter lifetime collection. This French fashion house, known for its feminine, ladylike clothing, has long been the go-to for Parisian chic. To achieve Nina Ricci figure-flattering cuts, the seasoned dressmaker draped on a live mannequin, pinning and snipping with a couturier's care. This breathtaking heavily adorned satin and luxurious black silk velvet evening gown is a perfect example of mid-century couture glamour. The bodice has an alluring wide scalloped neckline with slightly padded shoulders and lean, long button-trimmed sleeves. Nina Ricci adds an impressive interior boned corset structure to help keep the perfect hourglass shape. There is opulent glass beads and sparkling prong-set rhinestones covering the entire front. This workmanship alone must have taken weeks to complete. The fitted nipped-waist with back belt detail gives the garment the most flattering 'new look' silhouette. I especially love the black and white block color design. So timeless and effortlessly elegant. At this time Nina Ricci was in the same league as Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain, and you can clearly see why in her brilliant talent. This documented French haute couture gown would make such an epic wedding guest look or red carpet moment! A true museum worthy work of art.

Measurements
Bust: 33-34 inches (2-inch seam allowance)
Waist: 25 inches (2-inch seam allowance)
Hips: Free Sweep
Sleeve Length: 24 inches
Total Length: 62 inches

This Nina Ricci haute couture designer gown is in wonderful wearable condition with no holes, fade or alternations. Presents beautifully. The garment closes with original back French éclair metal zipper. There is gorgeous corset boning throughout the bodice to keep the shape. Shown with an additional petticoat skirt which is not included. After close inspection we found a few faint spots to the ivory skirt and some missing beadwork which is not noticeable when worn. Please message for detailed pictures. Though the label is no longer present, the editorial picture and true custom couture work confirms it is a Nina Ricci creation. A true piece of French mid-century fashion history.

Highly recommended read!!
Format: Hardcover
My book club read this. It’s a thoughtful and emotional story with believable characters and strong family themes. I especially loved the message of forgiveness, which added real depth to the story. I’m from the area where the book takes place and found the setting and details extremely accurate. I could picture myself in and around it. Loved it and highly recommend. Looking forward to this author’s next book!

Excellent Read. Highly recommend.

I can't believe how much I loved this book. It was so well written, and it kept me interested to the very last page. I couldn't put it down. If you're looking for a coming-of-age book with a lot of twists and turns and some feminism thrown in this book is for you it gave me a lot to think about. Way to go Deborah Curtis on your first novel. I hope you'll be publishing more.

not too shabby
Format: Kindle
This book reminds me of a Jane Austin novel. She writes like Jane Austin. The author did a good job with realism, life is painful and there was a plethora of that in this book. I do like how it ended even though I’m not a huge fan of Lilys choices. I’m not sure she deserved her ending, she reconciled one tragedy in her life but several others are still waiting for her to take responsibility for. It was worth the read.
