Algicell Calcium Alginate Dressings are highly absorptive, soft, white and sterile dressings designed for moderately to heavily exudating wounds. Algicell Alginate manages wound fluid, controls bleeding and helps provide the optimal moist wound healing environment.

Action:

Highly absorptive, soft, white, and sterile. Formation of a soft gel when in contact with wound fluids to maintain a moist healing environment.

Indications:

Manage moderately to highly exudating partial and full thickness wounds. Can be used for smaller wounds like biopsy sites (disks) or for packing deep wounds (rope).

Contraindications:

Contraindicated for third degree burns and surgical implantation.

Application: 

Clean wound according to facility policy with dermal cleanser or saline solution. Apply AlgiCell to the wound bed. Loosely pack deeper wounds. Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing.

Removal:

Remove secondary dressing. Rinse the affected area to remove remaining gel. Reapply new dressing daily, or as indicated by amount of exudate or facility policy. 

Note: Algicell Alginate should not be used on third degree burns and surgical implantations.
