The fresh catch for summer is our Eric Carle Mermaid Dress - a keepsake-worthy piece for beach trips, cruise vacations, resort holidays, family photos, or mermaid birthdays. Whether given as a memorable gift or selected as something your own aspiring marine biologist will love, this dress is sure to delight toddlers and girls ages two to eight.

As comfortable as it is captivating, this under-the-sea chemise features a vibrant wraparound underwater scene from The Very Hungry Caterpillar author Eric Carle. Dolphins leap, jellyfish drift, and a flaxen-haired mermaid swims around the dress in Carle’s iconic collage style. Designed for warm-weather adventures, from shell collecting on the shore to birthday dinners at the beach house, this limited-edition dress combines artistic storytelling with heirloom-quality construction.

The artwork comes from Carle’s interpretation of Mermaid / Undersea by Marchette Chute, found in his book Dragons, Dragons & Other Creatures That Never Were:

Mermaid / Undersea  by Marchette Chute
Beneath the waters / Green and cool / The mermaids keep / A swimming school.
The oysters trot; / The lobsters prance; / The dolphins come / To join the dance.
But all the jellyfish / Who are rather small, / Can’t seem to learn / The steps at all.

The delight in this linen dress lies in the unique way the mermaid and her friends wrap around the dress from front to back. A feat of fashion engineering, to create this dress the artwork for each size is scaled to fit on each pattern piece, then printed, cut, and carefully assembled to ensure it flows seamlessly through the side pleats and across the skirt. Topped off with ocean-blue shoulder straps and rickrack trim echoing gentle waves, it’s an unforgettable look for mermaid-themed parties, family travel, or just twirling barefoot after a perfect beach day.

  • Official Eric Carle™ + Little Goodall licensed collaboration

  • Features artwork by Very Hungry Caterpillar creator Eric Carle

  • Classic sleeveless A-line dress style

  • Fully lined heirloom garment construction

  • Invisible center back zipper for easy dressing

  • Available in sizes 2Y–7Y for toddlers and girls, perfect for sibling looks

  • Machine washable

Highly giftable and made to be remembered, the Mermaid Dress is a keepsake-worthy choice for end-of-school surprises, summer birthdays, cruise send-offs, or a special visit from grandparents, godparents, or aunts and uncles. It’s the perfect centerpiece for a mermaid birthday party, a standout literary look for Book Week, or a special addition to her summer capsule wardrobe. Designed to delight both giver and recipient, it’s the kind of dress she’ll never forget - and one you’ll be proud to pass down.

Great Book.
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Its great to be able to go back and read Stokely Carmichael today in his own words. This book provides an excellent overview of what black power means and how the concept originated. Although the book seems a bit dated today, many of the ideas presented are still entirely relevant. Ive only given the book four stars due to its age. Many of the statistics presented are dated, and undoubtedly there are other texts available today that present these ideas in a much better/newer way. But if you are interested in Stokely Carmichael and what he stood for, this is the book to read.

Excellent articulation of the Black Power initiative within the Civil ...
Format: Paperback
Excellent articulation of the Black Power initiative within the Civil Rights Movement. A detailed view of Black Power, it's objectives, how these would be achieved, as well as it's misinterpretations. An afterword from each author appended in 1992 provides insight, reflection, and perspective on all that's changed, and what hasn't, since the book's publishing.
